Workshop on identification, preservation, and digitalization
The workshop will focus on identification, preservation, and preventive conservation of photographic and digitally generated materials. A special theme in 2016 is an introduction to digitalization of photographic works. The workshop combines education, practical demonstrations, and hands-on practical work. Space for 8 participants.
The workshop will provide knowledge about:
- Identification of photographic techniques and materials
- Causes and prevention of damage
- Preservation
- Simple cleaning of photographic surfaces
- Handling/transportation
- Exhibition practices
Target groups:
Curators, archivists, museum assistants, museum photographers, conservators, and students of conservation
Lectures and demonstrations will be given by the Preus Museum's photographic conservator Jens Gold and photo archivist/photographer Andreas Harvik
