Portfolioreviewen - bedre enn noen gang!

I samarbeid med foto.no arrangerer Preus museum Portfoliovisning for fotografer og kamerabaserte kunstnere på Fotografiets dag 2018. Meningen er å skape nettverk mellom kamerabaserte kunstnere/fotografer og bransje, samt å gi fotografer en mulighet til å få rådgivning og tilbakemeldinger på arbeidet sitt. Som fotograf tilbys du å vise bildene dine for et panel som består av en rekke internasjonale billedkritikere med ulike bakgrunner og bred kompetanse innen det fotografiske feltet. Det gjøres et utvalg av hvem som får vise sine portfolioer på grunnlag av forhåndsinnsendt materiale (se under).

 

Fotografiets dags Portfolioreview finner sted i Preus museums bibliotek på Karljohansvern i Horten lørdag 18. august og søndag 19. august kl 10-16. Reviewere og fotografer kobles til korte, personlige møter. Hver fotograf tilbys 4 møter med utvalgte reviewere. Hvert møte varer i 20 minutter.

 

Presentasjoner av reviewere finner du her. Det er en god måte å forberede seg til dine personlige møter.

I løpet av helgen vil reviewerne velge en av de deltagende fotografene som får en egen utstilling på Fotografiets dager 2019.

I løpet av dagen (og helgen) vil det også være en rekke andre arrangementer på festivalområdet i forbindelse med Fotografiets dager – foredrag, utendørs utstillinger, konserter, bruktmarked, aktiviteter og visninger. Horten Mat & Ølfestival sørger for serveringen!

Fordi antallet plasser for medvirkende fotografer er begrenset, gjøres det et utvalg. Du vil få beskjed om utfallet av utvalget så fort som mulig.

Påmeldingsavgiften (ny pris) er 1000 kroner (500,- for studenter og medlemmer av FFF og NBK) for fire møter. Det inkluderer også inngang til Fotografiets dager lørdag og søndag. Påmeldingen er bindende, og gjøres når du har fått beskjed om du er tatt ut til deltagelse. Ved påmelding blir du bedt om å fylle ut et skjema der du markerer hvilke reviewere du ønsker å møte (i prioritert rekkefølge) og om du ønsker lørdag eller søndag, eller om møtene kan fordeles over begge dager. Vi gjør vårt ytterste for at alle skal få oppfylt sine ønsker, men ber om forståelse for at mange hensyn må tas for at kabalen skal gå opp.

PREUS MUSEUM

er det nasjonale museum for fotografi i Norge. Det eies av den norske stat, og har et overordnet ansvar for bevaring, innsamling og formidling av fotografi i Norge, med særlig vekt på kunstnerisk fotografi.
Museets samlinger består av norsk og internasjonalt fotografi, kameraer og andre gjenstander som belyser fotografiets utvikling, samt et fagbibliotek av internasjonal standard.

 

FOTO.NO

Foto.no har siden 1996 vært Norges største redaksjonelle nettsted for fotointeresserte med over 100.000 medlemmer. Høsten 2016 tok de steget videre med både nettbutikk og butikk sammen med gründerne og en del nøkkelpersoner fra FotoVideo. Foto.no holder til i Barcode i Bjørvika, rett ved Oslo Sentralstasjon, med stort utvalg i fotoutstyr og mange spennende fotoaktiviteter. De har alle lang erfaring fra bransjen og er lidenskapelig interessert i foto.

 

FOTOGRAFIETS DAGER

Fotografiets dager arrangeres av Preus museum i samarbeid med de norske fotograforganisasjonene. Prosjektet er en viktig del i arbeidet med å skaffe Preus museum en bredere kontaktflate blant fotografer og fotointeresserte. Fotografiets dager er i år utvidet til en tredagers fotofestival, og arrangeres samtidig med Horten mat & ølfestival. Årets arrangement vil pirre alle sanser!

Reviewere Fotografiets dager 2018

Beate Cegielska (DK)

Since 1990, Beate Cegielska has curated numerous group and solo exhibitions by Danish and international artists in Europe, South Korea, China and India. For many years, she has also participated as a portfolio reviewer at different international photography festivals around the world . 

 

Galleri Image is a non-profit exhibition space, which aims to promote high quality photo-based art by showing Danish and international photography and video art. Founded in 1977, the gallery is the longest running non-profit exhibition space for photographic art in the Nordic countries, and for many years it was also the only photo art gallery in Denmark.

 

Over the past 40 years, Galleri Image has achieved international reputation for its exhibitions and has contributed considerably to the recognition and understanding of photography as an important and independent medium in the world of visual art. Based in Aarhus, Denmark, and with free entry to all its shows, the gallery regularly hosts talks, discussions, seminars, workshops and guided exhibition tours as well as touring their exhibitions around the world.

Galleri Image will also be contributing with an exhibition as a part of our Nordic focus 

 

Rasmus Vasli (SE/NO)

Rasmus Vasli graduated from the University of the Arts London, with a MA in Fine Art Photography. Since 2013 he has been the Director and Co-founder of Fotogalleri Vasli Souza, Malmö. The gallery’s key focus is young, emerging, contemporary artist, with a special interest in projects showing an uncanny and/or humoristic approach.

 

Vasli Souza is a private run gallery with an international approach influenced by the background of Marcio Souza from Brazil and Rasmus Vasli from Norway, who both studied fine art photography at the University of the Arts London. The gallery is located in the basement of an old hat factory building at Gustav Adolfs Torg, in the city center of Malmö. They strive to show the best of emerging, contemporary photography, and promoting a multicultural philosophy through the diffusion of artists from different parts of the globe. Since the opening in 2013, names of artists exhibited includes Ren Hang (CH), Zanele Muholi (ZA), Sami Parkkinen (FI), Pixy Liao (CH), Silin Liu (CH), Lissa Rivera (US) and Nelli Palomäki (FI).

 

Gallery Vasli Souza will also be contributing with an exhibition as a part of Photography Days' Nordic focus

 

Sade Kahra (FI)  

 

Sade Kahra is a Swedish-Finnish artist and arts manager based in Turku, Finland. Kahra graduated as Master of Arts from the Aalto University in Helsinki in 2000 and has since curated international exhibitions, developed artist in residence programs and lectured in media and art. Since five years, Kahra is the director of Photographic Centre Peri in Turku. From 2019, Peri will be a part of Kunsthalle Turku, initiated by Kahra and founded in collaboration with Turku Artists' Association. Peri is on the lookout for interesting works by artists outside of Finland, with a special interest in contemporary lens based media, including transdisciplinary and experimental approaches to photography.

Photographic Centre Peri will also be contributing with an exhibition as a part of Photography Days' Nordic focus

 

Tor Simen Ulstein, Astrid Gjersøe Skåtterød and Charlie Fjätström (NO)

Uncertain States Scandinavia er en gratis, fotobasert kunstavis, og driftes som en ideell organisasjon. De lager omtrent fire aviser i året, og har gitt ut syv aviser siden de startet i 2016. Uncertain States Scandinavia oppfordrer fotokunstnere til å sende inn pågående eller ferdigstilte prosjekter de ønsker å gi eksponering. UCSS ønsker og være reklamefrie og utstillerne som blir valgt ut betaler deler av kostnadene ved produksjonen. UCSS er stiftet av Tor Simen Ulstein, Astrid Gjersøe Skåtterød og Charlie Fjätström. Foruten å publisere avis har de organisert utstillinger, artist residency og talks i arrangement for avisen. Avistrioen jobber som frilansfotografer, er basert i Oslo og videre gjør de også egne kunstprosjekter.
De ønsker seg en større søkerbase til avisen slik at vi kan velge prosjekt til publikasjoner ut ifra tema. Dette er motivasjonen til deltagelsen for å være reviewer på portfoliovisningen. De ønsker å se ferdige, nye, gamle eller pågående prosjekt av fotografer som kunne tenke seg og bli publisert i Uncertain States Scandinavia.

 

David Drake (GB)

David Drake is the Director of Ffotogallery, the national development agency for photography and lens-based media in Wales. Ffotogallery’s exhibition and publishing programme features artists from the UK and the rest of the world. Wider audience reach is achieved through touring exhibitions, print and online publishing, artist commissions and residencies, and an extensive education programme.  David initiated and is the current Director of the biennial event Diffusion - Cardiff International Festival of Photography, which has completed three editions. He was Project Director for Wales in Venice, the Wales’ Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 56th International Art Exhibition 2015. Ffotogallery is the lead agency for a pan-European co-operation project called European Prospects.  In 2017/18, Ffotogallery has collaborated with Delhi Photo Festival and the Nazar Foundation on a year long project called Dreamtigers, as part of the UK-India programme to mark the 70th anniversary of Indian independence.

 

As a portfolio reviewer, David welcomes reviewing contemporary image-based work across a wide range of practices, including fine art and documentary photography, video, installation and digital media work. As Ffotogallery does not present purely commercial, fashion or stock photography, he would prefer not to review such work.

 

Erick Gudimard (FR)

Since 2001 Erick Gudimard is the director of Les Ateliers de l'Image in Marseille, which opens the new Marseille Photographic Center in november 2018.

In particular, he directed more than thirty exhibitions at Galerie La Traverse, created La Nuit de l'Instant, and curated a dozen exhibitions in France and abroad. And will organize Polytyque, first photographic art fair in Marseille, at the end of august 2018.

He is also President of the Diagonal network (created at his initiative in 2009), which brings together 18 photographic structures in France.

 

Erik Vroons (NL)

Erik Vroons (1976, The Netherlands) combines an academic background with practical skills. He holds an MA in Photographic Studies (Leiden University) and Media Studies (University of Amsterdam) and currently works as a freelance critical writer, editor, and mentor. 

Main activities: Editor-at-large of the international photography magazine GUP and curator for New Dutch Photography Talent. 

He has executed several workshops, at Singapore International Photography Festival (2014 + 2016), Tokyo International Phoptography Festival (2015), Belfast Photo Festival (2015+2017), Warsaw (2017), Jamia Islamia University, Delhi (2016) and he has been a portfolio reviewer at many other international photography festivals. Over the years several acclaimed photographers consulted him concerning their works in progress towards presentation of a book, an exhibition or a website. 

"I'm mostly interested in meeting photographers working in the fields of (conceptual) documentary photography and visual artists applying photography as a means for (socially engaged) storytelling."

Irina Chmyreva (RU)

Irina Chmyreva, PhD., Art-Director PhotoVisa, International Festival of Photography, Krasnodar region, Russia

Historian of photography; curator of photography exhibitions. AICA member. Currently lives in Moscow.

Since 1996 as a researcher and curator she worked in institutions, among them are Moscow Museum of Modern Art, ROSIZO State Center for Museums and Exhibitions of the Ministry of Culture of Russia. Since 2007 she is at the National Institute for Theory and History of Fine Arts, Russian Academy of Arts, Moscow, now in position of leading researcher.

 She was a member of international editorial board of Imago magazine (2000-2011), European Photography magazine (2000-2015), guest editor of OjoDePez magazine (Spain) for special publication on Russian photography (2006). She is running her lecturing programs on visual communication and photography in history of Russia in Institute of Professional Photography, Moscow; State University of Technologies, chair of graphic book design. Guest lecturer at European Institute of Design in Madrid, Spain.

 

In 2012 she was one of five Russian and American curators selected the main program Contemporary Russian Photography for International Biennial FotoFest in Houston, USA. She had written for Catalogue of FotoFest 2012. In 2013 she was in Syngenta Prize committee and in 2014 she was in jury committee of Hasselblad Award.

 

Since 2008 she is co-founder and art-director of International Festival of Photography PhotoVisa in Krasnodar region, Russia (www.photovisa.ru).

 

She is author of Russian chapters in three volumes (1900-1939; 1940-1969 and 1970-2000) of History of European Photography of 20 century. She is author and co-author of several books on history of Russian photography; her last book Collection of Essays on History of Russian Photography was published in 2016.

 

She is mostly interested to review the portfolios open the boudaries of photography for multi-media, mixed media experiments; she appreciate to see conceptional projects and the works connected with the history of arts.

 

Mrs. Chmyreva is looking for work that might be exhibited in PhotoVisa festival and published in resources which she connected with. Because she has a long time  experience in curating exhibitions and making books as an editor she can offer an advice how to edit and present the results of the work at the exhibitions and publications.

 

Moritz Neumüller (ES/AU)

Moritz Neumüller, is a Barcelona-based curator, educator and writer in the field of Photography and New Media. He has worked for institutions such as MoMA New York, La Fábrica Madrid and PhotoIreland Festival. He is the academic director of the Photo Department of IED Madrid, and a regular contributor to magazines such as European Photography, foam and Photoresearcher. Since 2010, he runs the The Curator Ship, an online resource for visual artists. Recent curatorial projects for Daegu Biennial (Korea), Photobook Week Aarhus (DK), and Photobook Phenomenon (ES).

 

As a reviewer, Moritz is interested in seeing contemporary work made by photographers and media artists from around the world, especially documentary, social and conceptual work.

Ingrid Nilsson (NO/SE)

Ingrid Nilsson er direktør for Preus museum siden 2009. Nilsson er kulturviter og fotograf med 20 års erfaring innen svensk museumsarbeid med hovedvekt på kulturhistorisk fotografi. Hun har i løpet av de siste ti årene ledet flere enheter ved Malmø Museer, innenfor dokumentasjon generelt, og innenfor kulturhistorisk fotografi.

Nilsson er utdannet fotograf og har utdannelse fra universitetene i Lund og Gøteborg innen kulturkommunikasjon, historie, kunstvitenskap, humanøkologisk dokumentasjon og faget Fotografi og dokumentasjon.
