Week 33 - 2019
Over and under
Two worlds in one and the same image, so different, but in synergy with each other. Two worlds sharing resources, humans on board the “sildesnurper” and the orca beneath the waves. Although, the humans will gladly be greedy and take more of the resources offered than animals would.
Audun Rikardsen is known for his split photography, where he photographs nature and animal life by placing a specialised camera in and above the water surface. In this way we can see two worlds; both of them at once. These split photos expresses a notion of dualism between different elements and different worlds, for example animal versus human.
He says himself that nature photography is about storytelling and sharing knowledge. To take a good photo, it's also important to be aware of the photographic subject. To get to know the animals, understand their habits and build trust enables him to capture the right moment.
On the Photography Day next Sunday, you can see Auduns images as large scale versions exhibited on the walls, as well as listen to his stories of both successes and fiascoes concerning creative photography sessions in the neighbourhood.
