Opening Wall of fame: Arnold Newman

© Arnold Newman, Igor Stravinskij, composer and conductor, New York, 1946. Preus museums collection.
Photographer Arnold Newman (1918-2006) is well known for the iconic image of Igor Stravinsky, the portrait that clearly states that this must be a musician.
When Newman photographed a person, he portrayed them in their own environment rather than in a studio. By taking control of the environment, he could reveal aspects of the portraytees life and work. He'd be happy with items that showed their profession and personality. His way of portraying people contributed to change the portrait photography.
Several of Arnold Newman's famous and iconic portraits of artistic and cultural personalities will be on display in this one-wall-exhibition, Wall of Fame. The photographs will be on display in May and June 2016.
Exhibition opening at 12.
