Seminar Bending the Frame

How can images make a difference? Can a photograph tell us anything new or anything else about the world we live in? These are some of the questions that the exhibition Bending the Frame at Preus Museum investigates, and that the seminar will deepen.

Preus Museum is organizing a one-day seminar at Litteraturhuset in Oslo in connection to the exhibition Bending the Frame. The seminar is held in collaboration with Akademin Valand/Gothenburg University, Oslo Fotokunstskole/Oslo, Photographic Center/ Copenhagen, and Norwegian Journal of Photography.

The exhibition reflects the global news and media streams we are daily exposed to through traditional news media, social media, and the internet in general. Bending the Frame takes its starting point in contemporary art and the mass media, where the photograph has been of great importance for storytelling and the public consciousness in the 20th and 21st centuries. The seminar aims to deepen and discuss this point of view as an alternative to mass media and public debate.

The seminar is free and supported by Fritt Ord. No registration needed. The seminar is held in English.
